WEEKLY
SCHEDULE
Speech Binder
Students will be provided with a one inch 3 ring binder to keep their approved showcase presentation piece along with additional warm up activities, showcase information, and any other skit, commercial, or scene in which they have a role.
Students will be expected to bring the binder to class each week, as well as practice their showcase presentation piece outside of class. While students will not be asked to memorize their piece in such a short timeframe, the more familiar students become with their presentation, the more comfortable and confident they will be in front of a live audience.
Mrs. C will keep back up copies of all showcase items, but they may not reflect student edits, notes, or annotations.
Paper, Pencil, Highlighter
Sometimes, our class goes a bit "old school" so it's important for students to be prepared to write with paper and pencil or pen.
Once students receive a printed copy of their approved showcase performance piece, they will begin practicing and may need to take notes, make edits, or annotate their copy.
Tablet or Chromebook
Students will need to bring a Chromebook, iPad, tablet, or other device with Wi-Fi capabilities. Each CLC campus has free guest Wi-Fi.
Tablets should also have an app for writing such as Word or Google Docs. Students may choose to write their own speech piece, commercial, or collaborate with others on scripts or skits using tablets instead of paper and pencil.
Please note that devices issued by middle schools are subject to security software installed by the individual school district and may be prevented from accessing files, emails, or websites from a non-district outside source.
Additional Resources
Students can visit the Resources page to find additional documents, websites, and videos to assist during their speech writing journey.
To see the page, click on the Resources button or on the word Resources from the main menu.
Within the Speech 2 section will be items related to our course study, including websites with more free scripts.
Weekly Classroom Supplies

Students in this class will perform for an audience of parents, guardians, family, and friends on Thursday, March 14 during class time.
Last semester, our class wrote a one act play titled: The Rigged Game Show. This semester, the class will present Lost in TV Land. Why? Showcase performances are written and created by the students during our time together and are different each semester.

Live Student Showcase
Thursday, November 2
Students in this class will perform for an audience of parents, family, and friends on Thursday, November 2 during class time.
Students will choose to perform a solo acting piece, duet acting piece, or small group skit. All performance pieces must be
approved by Mrs. C prior to week 6 (October 19). Students may write their own performance piece or choose from a number of pre-approved selections. Students may also use other online or video resources to find, cut, and edit performance pieces as long as they give credit to the original creator. Books, fairytales, poems, and other sources may also be used to find a suitable piece.
Performance pieces should last between 1-3 minutes.

Mrs. C would love to use photos, videos, and writing from our class! This helps others learn about what we do and what makes our class fun, engaging, and special. However, we need to follow a few rules:
-
If you have a submission, email it to Mrs. C with your first name, last initial, and grade level.
-
Make sure a release form is signed by a parent or guardian and is on file with Mrs. C.
-
Remember that plagiarism is frowned upon both at school and in the real world.
-
Our publishing guidelines will keep us to a PG or PG13 rating in terms of content and language.
