It's that time of year again when I look forward to meeting my Fast-Paced students and families. In just over a week, we begin our exciting journey together through writing, speaking, literature, and study skills. I'm in awe of how many students are signed up for my seven classes this semester, with some familiar names (Hi Phillip, Harry, Naomi, Sofia!) and lots of new ones too.
I'm hopeful that my humor, sarcasm, and accurate yet questionable pop culture knowledge will still keep me relatable after so many years as a teacher. Sadly, I can no longer trust my memory when it comes to keeping names straight so I've invested in some mini chalkboard stands which I hope will help. Given the recent back issues I've experienced plus the request to get a colonoscopy by my doctor and I would have to give age 49 a one-star rating. Do not recommend.
On a more positive note, I have created my own website to keep our classes organized and make our documents, videos, and other resources easily accessible. This process was intense as web design is not my day job, or my night job. But I wanted the site to reflect not only the passion I have for the subjects I teach, but let my students and their families have a place to showcase themselves and their work.
My website is not perfect. It's not meant to be, as it is also a reflection of me. But over time, I hope it will grow to represent the fun, excitement, and wonder that comes with exploring something new. As I continue in my own learning, I will add more resources, publish more writing, photos, and videos, (with permission of course) and look for ways to promote our Fast-Paced community as a place to challenge and enrich the overall learning journey for each student.
